Origin

   I am the third son of a woman who immigrated to America on the SS United States in 1952.  A decade earlier Mom experienced WWII as a child in southern Germany.  War had left an indelible mark upon her...     

     From my University of Iowa dorm room in the Fall of 1978 I envisioned writing a story of my experiences on the Great South Bay, hence "Bay Brothers", an epic tale of a clam pirate hellbent on destroying the corrupt, insidious law.

   Enlightened by the wonderful world of children's literature in my masters program at Stony Brook University I was inspired to create several picture books,

Gus, the Crab Man, 

The Sea Horse Fountain,

Three Trees Outside the Outfield,

and a chapter book novel,
